The Step-by-Step Process Inside a Touchless Bay
When you pull into a touchless automatic bay, here is what happens in sequence:
- Vehicle detection โ sensors measure the size and profile of your vehicle so the system knows where to aim
- Pre-soak application โ high-pressure nozzles apply an alkaline foaming pre-soak solution across the entire vehicle to loosen road film and grime
- Dwell time โ the system pauses briefly to let the chemistry work
- High-pressure rinse โ powerful water jets remove the loosened contamination
- Treatment application โ depending on your plan, additional treatments are applied: foam polish, clear coat sealant, ceramic sealant, wheel cleaner, underbody blast
- Spot free rinse โ purified deionized water is used as the final rinse to eliminate water spots
- Turbo dry โ high-velocity air blowers remove water from all surfaces so you drive away dry
Why No Brushes?
Traditional brush car washes use spinning foam or cloth brushes to physically scrub your vehicle. The problem is those brushes accumulate dirt and debris from every car washed before yours โ and drag that contamination across your paint at high speed, creating micro-scratches and swirl marks over time.
A touchless system eliminates this risk entirely. Nothing contacts your paint โ only water and chemistry. This makes touchless washing the recommended method for vehicles with paint protection film, ceramic coatings, vinyl wraps, or any paint finish you want to keep in excellent condition long-term.
Good to know: Village Car Wash's touchless automatic bay is the only bay covered by our EverWash membership plans. Self-serve bays are available separately for customers who prefer hands-on control of their wash.
How Do You Use It?
Using the touchless automatic bay at Village is straightforward:
- Membership holders: Open the EverWash app, tap your membership, and scan the QR code at the bay entrance. The bay activates automatically โ pull in and the wash begins.
- Pay per wash: Use the payment terminal at the bay entrance. Credit card, debit card, and mobile pay accepted.
- Pull forward slowly when prompted
- Put your vehicle in neutral and keep your foot off the brake
- Roll up windows and retract antennas
- The wash takes approximately 4โ6 minutes
Is a Touchless Car Wash as Clean as a Brush Wash?
For regular maintenance washing โ yes. A quality touchless system with a proper chemical package removes the vast majority of everyday road grime, bird droppings, dust, and road film. For extremely heavy contamination, a self-serve bay with manual scrubbing may be more effective as a starting point.
The tradeoff is clear: touchless is gentler on your paint and delivers consistent, repeatable results every wash โ making it the better choice for frequent washing and long-term paint care.
